L.A. Times’ The Taste 2016 | Meeting Cue Anthony – Ep. 2 Quincy James Freeman8 October 2016061 views A food festival should give you an anticipation for the event. On this week's episode of Meeting Cue Anthony, I attend Los Angeles Times' The Taste. The Taste, in opinion, is the culmination of Los Angeles' summertime food festival season, which starts with The West Coast Barbecue Classic in May. Both of which are my favorite food festivals of the year. The Taste happens on the weekend before Labor Day, and is held on the backlot of Paramount Pictures. It is a 3 day event starting with a VIP gala on Friday night, followed by a day and night sessions on Saturday and Sunday. Watch me enjoy myself at The Taste, I hope to see you there next year. Big Earth Cafe | The Burger Crawl – Ep. 56 Quincy James Freeman15 April 2016045 views If you are from Los Angeles, then you know who Big Boy is. Big Boy is the famed radio host of many popular radio stations in the city, I would say Power 106 is the most notable, and longest run (but don't quote me on that.) Additionally, you know that Big Boy had weight loss surgery. Well in 2016, he, his brother, and Food Network Star Contestant Kevin Robert have opened a healthy food cafe in North Hollywood. It is basically right up the street from Universal Studios on Lankersheim. On today's episode of The Burger Crawl, I sit down with Chef Roberts, and my friend and copy editor, Tatyanna Wilkinson, of the local blog I Heart NoHo (http://www.iheartnoho.com/). Steak N Shake | The Burger Crawl – Ep. 54 Quincy James Freeman1 April 2016041 views I really put forth a good attempt to make it to Shake Shack's West Hollywood, CA opening, but it was late, and the line was ridiculously long. I was hungry, and if you need more excuses I can come up with them later. KHA Entertainment's Billy and I decided to find food elsewhere. We made our way to the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica, CA where there is a Steak N Shake. Due to misinformation from Billy, I thought Steak N Shake was somehow related but he was completely wrong. Aside from a similar name, the two chains have nothing to do with each other. Steak N Shake is a delicious burger. The bacon could have been better but that just may be me being picky. I hope you enjoy this week's episode of The Burger Crawl. Lunch @ Fresh & Meaty w/ D Hill | The Burger Crawl – Ep. 51 Quincy James Freeman12 March 2016049 views My friend, Dorian Hill, and I have been trying to figure out how to start his YouTube channel for just about a year. About a week or so ago, we finally got together and filmed my first [official] interview on YouTube, and his first YouTube video. In this collaboration, we decided to go to Fresh & Meaty, a local burger joint on the Los Angeles/Inglewood border. Fresh & Meaty is one of South Central's quintessential burger places. It is simple, down-home goodness that is cherished by the community that surrounds it. I am glad that Dorian and I chose such a filling and delicious plate to wrap up our filming. To view the interview please give Dorian's channel by clicking the links below. Please be sure to give him a subscribe. Deep Fried Burger at Wood & Vine | The Burger Crawl – Ep. 47 Quincy James Freeman12 February 2016029 views I met chef Kyle Schutte when he was the executive chef at Roadhouse L.A. (now closed permanently). The man is a culinary genius, and his food certainly makes for great leftovers. That's a big deal in my world. Chef Schutte has gone on to being the chef at Wood & Vine in Hollywood, CA. On this episode of The Burger Crawl I try his Deep-fried hamburger. The concept was truly foreign to me, but after tasting it, I was taken by surprised, and truly enjoyed the texture. Bacon Brussels Sprouts | Reverse Cheat Day – Ep. 0 Quincy James Freeman25 January 2016059 views I would imagine that most people have their personal dietary health at the forefront of their minds when they decide what to eat on a day-to-day basis. I do not. I eat what I want with no active concern on whether it is good for me or not. I like eating hamburgers, pork chops, bloodied red meat, and sweets. Over the last few months I have noticed that I have gained a noticeable amount of weight. In trying to curb my weight-gain, and take care of my body, I have decides to eat healthy in a series I call "Reverse Cheat Day." On this first episode of Reverse Cheat Day, I gleefully indulge in the Bacon Brussels Sprouts side dish available at The Federal Bar. The Federal Bar has 3 locations, one in North Hollywood, CA; Long Beach, CA; and Brooklyn, NY. I would like to believe I am off to a good start in my journey through healthy eating. The Federal Burger | The Burger Crawl – Ep. 43 Quincy James Freeman20 January 2016036 views Many times I will eat a burger, and admittedly feel sluggish afterwards. Cinnamon Crumb Fried Chicken Burger | The Burger Crawl – Ep. 37 Quincy James Freeman14 October 2015034 views The Cinnamon Crumb Fried Chicken Burger at Chomp Eatery in Santa Monica, has Pumpkin Spiced aioli. That has been the focus of the media coverage over this sandwich. However that is not my focus. My question and concern is whether or not this "burger" is a burger at all? In my humble opinion a burger can use just about any meat, but to qualify as a burger, said meat must be ground and formed into a patty. This is a very good, and well executed fried chicken sandwich, and all the flavors work together to create an experience worth trying. The Cinnamon Fried Chicken Burger is available through the month of October 2015, and possibly will be extended, but I would not count on a extension, get your's today! I come from the school of thought that a burger patty is a ground meat formed into a patty then grilled, charbroiled, or fried in a skillet. I believe that the term burger is a cooking and preparation technique as well as a type of food. Thereby the Cinnamon Crumb Fried Chicken Burger at Chomp Eatery is without a doubt, a fried chicken sandwich!
