November’s Burger of the Month at Slater’s 50/50 was the Thanksgiving Day Burger, and I went for the one-pound version. Usually a one-pound burger at Slater’s means two patties. This one is a single massive, messy turkey patty.
It comes with dressing and cranberry sauce on a honey oat bun that can’t hold it; the patty spills out every side. The turkey is seasoned perfectly. Back in 2013 I wrote that this was one of the best turkey patties I’d ever had, and it still is. The dressing adds its own flavor to every bite, and when the cranberry sauce comes in with its sweetness, it’s about as warm a feeling as food gives you.
A full pound of ground turkey does defeat the purpose of ordering a turkey burger to eat lighter. You get the same overwhelming full feeling as any big beef burger. I was very full after this one.
