I dropped a Sunseeker at an RV Country show lot and headed to Santa Fe Springs, California, to pick up units bound for Laughlin, Nevada. Before leaving, I made a stop I’d been thinking about: Tommy’s.
A chili cheese dog and a chili cheese tamale, both loaded the same way: chili, a slice of cheese, tomato, pickle and onion, with the peppers on the side. The snap of that beef hot dog with the chili and tomato tastes like home after being gone for a while.
Southern California is full of these mom-and-pop burger stands, the Tom’s and Tam’s and Steve’s of the world, but Tommy’s is the original for me. If you know, you know.
It felt good to be home. My lease in Ohio was almost up, and I already knew I was coming back. You can’t beat home.

Some meals here are on me, some are hosted. Either way, it is disclosed and the score is mine. If this helped you decide where to eat, a coffee helps keep it going.
