The Burger Crawl

After a long day of filming, MotomanTV, Jeff Fu (of Wreckless Eating), and I find ourselves at Red Robin getting drunk off Bottomless Rootbeer Floats. On this week's episode of The Burger Crawl I try the Big Ghost Burger, which I suspected has Ghost Chilis in it, but turns out it was only Jalepeno. The burger was flavorful, and packed a child's punch of heat and spice. While good, it was not the abuse that I am used from something with the word Ghost in the name. In the near future, Motoman and I have planned to spend out time gulping down bottomless rootbeer floats whilst playing monopoly. This is some sort of tradition he has, and loves immensely. Today's episode, in my opinion, was more about good friends, and a good time than it was about the burger. Who would have thought that rootbeer floats (and its aftermath) was the commonality that binds the three of us? I met chef Kyle Schutte when he was the executive chef at Roadhouse L.A. (now closed permanently). The man is a culinary genius, and his food certainly makes for great leftovers. That's a big deal in my world. Chef Schutte has gone on to being the chef at Wood & Vine in Hollywood, CA. On this episode of The Burger Crawl I try his Deep-fried hamburger. Daddy O's Rockin Cafe is a new dive-style restaurant located in Downtown Upland. They have great burgers, great deli-sandwiches, and Thrifty brand ice cream. It is a local establishment owned and operated by Sheri Dyches, who has a deep passion for burgers, and hearty food that uses locally-sourced ingredients. Wreckless Eating's Matt Zion and I decided to have lunch here, and I think video was a pinnacle moment in my friendship with Wreckless Eating's Matt Zion, as well as the relationship with you, my YouTube audience. Like many the Pizza Burger is my favorite burger at Slater's 50/50. I was glad to see it added to the menu, but disappointed that I would not have it to look forward to every February. Annually, Slater's 50/50 has their Thanksgiving Burger for the month of November. In 2013 I wrote a blog describing my first experience with the burger, and it is wonderful to see that much has not changed since them. I would to say I have had everything the culinary world has to offer, but I have not. For the first time I try a Chicken burger patty, and it was astounding it. The entire experience was light, refreshing, and enriching. Upon completing the Russian-spiced Double Chicken Burger at DOMA Kitchen I felt alive, and eager to get on with the rest of my day.
