On this episode of Reverse Cheat Day I head north of Los Angeles to Pasadena, CA. Accompanied by my good friends, RKVC, we try Mint Leaf Pasadena, an Indian cuisine restaurant with impeccable tastings. Rod of RKVC is vegetarian, and a vince is gluten-free. I, of course, have no eating restrictions other than preference and personal palette. When i was invited to Mint Leaf i immediately thought this dynamic duo would be the perfect pair of people to join me. I am glad to have filmed this episode of Reverse Cheat Day, a series where i step away from my normal eating habits of burgers and fries, and into the light of what i consider healthy or somewhat healthy, kinda. Please sit back and relax as we go through a series of appetizers, entrees, and a dessert offering that is good enough for the gods. Eating is something that I do more for pleasure than any other reason. I love food, but it would stand to reason to correct that statement by saying I love junk food. I came up with the idea for Reverse Cheat Day while at a party, and talking to some vegans about The Burger Crawl. In my position as a food blogger, I am often invited to try new restaurant, or new to me restaurants. That is the case here, and it could not have happened at a better time. Necco in Westwood, CA is a Japanese restaurant on the westside that takes a small plate look at healthier eating than I am used to. The dishes are prepared with locally-sourced produce, and decorated with flowers. It is creative, healthy, and refreshing. Necco is not a vegan or vegetarian restaurant but it is a place where meat eaters and vegetarians can go together without having the pressure of choosing between the two worlds. I would imagine that most people have their personal dietary health at the forefront of their minds when they decide what to eat on a day-to-day basis. I do not. I eat what I want with no active concern on whether it is good for me or not. I like eating hamburgers, pork chops, bloodied red meat, and sweets. Over the last few months I have noticed that I have gained a noticeable amount of weight. In trying to curb my weight-gain, and take care of my body, I have decides to eat healthy in a series I call "Reverse Cheat Day." On this first episode of Reverse Cheat Day, I gleefully indulge in the Bacon Brussels Sprouts side dish available at The Federal Bar. The Federal Bar has 3 locations, one in North Hollywood, CA; Long Beach, CA; and Brooklyn, NY. I would like to believe I am off to a good start in my journey through healthy eating. What do you think? Leave a comment below, and let's discuss other healthy foods I should try.
