I wrote a blog in March 2014 where I criticized the executive chef of Slater's 50/50 (Brad Lyons at the time) by stating, very publicly and very unapologetically, that an Asian-fusion burger was his Achilles' Heel. Shortly after that I was presented with the opportunity to appear on an episode of Travel Channel's Food Paradise (Hot & Spicy Paradise 2 - Season 5, Episode 4) where they were featuring some of the hottest foods around. In that episode Slater's 50/50 served me the hottest burger I've had to date, The 50 Alarm Burger. After my appearance I wrote another blog recapping the experience, and held to my guns despite the pain that was inflicted on me, and the victory granted to my friends, Scott and Brad. Taking recommendations for The Burger Crawl may be one of the best things I can do. Earlier this year a subscriber recommended Hopdoddy Burger Bar to me, and at the time they were only located in Texas. A couple months later, I took a trip to Fry's Electronics in Manhattan Beach, CA; and noticed a sign that said Hopdoddy across the street.
