Viva il cuoco che ci delizia con leccornie e allegria.

The Pizza Burger was my introduction to Slater’s 50/50’s Italian Sausage/Brandt Beef patty.  Hearing the news of another Italian-fusion burger hitting the menu grabbed my attention.  Without hesitation I make my trek to Pasadena to try it.

The Rustic Ravioli Burger is a 50% Italian Sausage, 50% Brandt Beef patty topped with fried ravioli pasta, grilled broccolini, roasted tomato and drenched in pesto Alfredo sauce between a brioche bun.

The 2/3 variant of the burger stands tall (2 patties high), and peers at me with this lustrous gaze.  My eyes lock on it in amazement and I experience sensory overwhelm.  It was as if I were walking through the grocery store, and stopping dead in my tracks to bask in the glory of an exotic and perfectly curved woman gracefully gliding by.  I photograph the burger, rotating it to capture the dripping pesto Alfredo sauce that flowed like white hot molten lava down the side of a volcano.

Typically, I would cut a burger in half to capture the inside on film, but in this case that was next to impossible, so I just picked up the burger and took my first bite.  Only able to make it through part of the patty, a broccolini clove, and a tomato, my taste buds are pleased.  The Broccolini is nearly perfectly cooked, not mushy and not too raw, only to have an objectionable soy sauce taste which I presume was a result of being mixed with the meat patties.  The patties are astonishing, there is a beautiful flavor of Italian sausage.  My only issue with the burger was the pasta, I did not care for it.  I cannot pinpoint why, but [for whatever reason] it did not appeal to my palette. All in all, this burger satisfied. I am able to get past the pasta, and admire the execution and prowess of the chef.
